Our story

Juffermans Surveyors Ltd (JSL) was founded in 2002 by Allen Juffermans.  Since its inception, JSL has played a significant role in shaping the land development and construction sectors in Taranaki.

JSL has a team of experienced surveyors, planners, and engineers who cover all aspects of development engineering, resource management, construction setout and monitoring, and simple back-yard subdivisions. JSL are quality focused, friendly and approachable. The in-house quality assurance systems and manuals ensure quality is maintained, and our clients are kept informed every step of the way.

Meet the team

Allen Juffermans

Founder and CEO

Allen is a graduate with a bachelor of Surveying from Otago University from 1997.

After training and registering as a surveyor in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and East Cape, he returned to Taranaki  in 2000.

In 2002, he started working from his kitchen table in Onaero, with the intention of just doing enough work to be comfortable.

In 2004, the property boom happened, and things became busy forcing Allen to employ staff to help him.

20 years later, Allen has a team of 12 surveyors, planners, engineers, landscape architects, and admin at the regional office in Stratford or the New Plymouth District Office.

Outside of work, Allen is kept happy and busy by his wife, Martha Dravitzki, their son Falcon and his 2 daughters Alana and Alex

Allen is a Trustee of the Rotokare Scenic Reserve, a wildlife sancuary inland of Eltham, which he and the family love spending their time helping out, or just enjoying being with the birds and trees, and catching the occasional Kiwi.

Keeping on his conservation bent, Allen has been on the Taranaki/Whanganui Conservation Board for 3 years, and is going for his second term of 3 years in 2022.

David Bowman

Senior Survey Quality Manager

David graduated with a Certificate in Survey Draughting in 1989.  Whilst studying, he started his working career in 1982 at a private survey firm in Dunedin as a Survey Technician.  In 1985, he moved to what was then Lands and Survey (now called Land Information NZ (LINZ)) specialising in Assessing Surveyors’ work that are submitted to LINZ.  After 22 years working at LINZ, he eventually moved back to private survey companies in Dunedin and Invercargill.

Since March 2022, David has now worked for JSL in the New Plymouth office as a Senior Survey Quality Manager and Survey Technician, bringing a vast amount of Cadastral Surveying experience, Quality Assurance and Survey Technician experience.  In fact, 38 years experience and counting!!  So if there’s anything Cadastral related, he’ll probably know the answer.

In his spare time, you’ll see David enjoying a competitive round of golf, going for hikes, reading and researching small house designs.
